Stepping into Tallinn Airport’s administrative building feels less like clocking into work and more like arriving at a gala. Formerly the airport’s main passenger terminal, the space is a masterclass in grand architecture: soaring ceilings, warm parquet floors, and a chandelier that turns every Monday morning into a scene from a classic film.
But while "ballroom vibes" are great for inspiration, they aren't always great for acoustics.

The challenge of a historic layout
Tallinn Airport’s mission is to connect Estonia with the world while making every visitor feel welcome and at home. That same idea matters behind the scenes too — the workplace should feel comfortable, safe, and human for the people who keep the airport running every day.
Originally designed for the movement and echoes of travelers, this space now houses over 100 employees. Turning a transit hub into a functional workplace brought a unique set of hurdles. How do you create quiet zones for video calls and deep focus in a building where every sound carries and the walls are literally part of history?
In a standard office, you might just put up some drywall. Here, that would hardly do the building justice.
More privacy, no major construction
Tallinn Airport needed a solution that was fast and flexible, but most importantly, respectful. This is where we stepped in. By placing Silen Space and Silen Chatbox pods directly into the main hall and surrounding work areas, the team created "rooms within rooms." The clean, minimalist lines of the pods offer a sharp, modern contrast to the classic architecture without trying to hide it.
Instead of fighting the building’s identity, the pods support it. They provide the silence of a private office while leaving the grand, open views of the terminal intact.
Why it works
For the airport team, the choice was about more than adding a quiet box. It was about finding a solution that could bring old and new together without making either feel out of place.
Immediate impact: Private booths for calls and meetings were ready to use without a single day of construction dust.
Aviation DNA: The pods were customized with city and destination-inspired graphics, tying them naturally to the airport’s world of travel.
Adaptable life: If the office needs to evolve, the pods can move with it.
"The result is a work environment that supports both employee well-being and daily efficiency. Our team is very happy with the solution — they especially value the ability to quickly find a quiet, private spot in the middle of a busy workday." — Margot Holts, Head of Marketing and Communication
A better working rhythm
With Silen pods, Tallinn Airport’s administrative building gained the privacy it was missing, without losing the atmosphere that makes the space special.
Employees now have quick access to quiet rooms when they need to take a call, join a video meeting, or concentrate away from the busier parts of the office. The result is a more functional workplace inside a space that still feels unmistakably historic.
A former passenger terminal was never going to become a standard office. Good thing.
