The way we work changes fast, but commercial real estate does not.

When a growing team suddenly needs a large, quiet meeting area, traditional construction is a nightmare — electrical and ventilation design, permits, drywall dust, and months of delay. By the time the drywall dries, the company's needs have often already changed.

At Silen, our core lineup of office pods solves workplace noise for thousands of spaces worldwide. But every so often, a workspace presents a challenge that standard pod configurations can't solve alone.

Beyond the standard office

Over the years, clients have brought us scenarios that required a completely different scale. They needed quiet environments in non-traditional places like active stock offices, manufacturing facilities, or sprawling warehouses. When British Airways needed a 10-meter workspace for engineers right in the middle of an active airplane hangar, we didn't force a standard pod into a space it didn't belong. We built a custom engineering response.

These unique projects proved that when off-the-shelf setups don't fit the room, companies shouldn't have to resort to traditional construction. They just need a bigger, more adaptable framework.

Meet the Silen Focus Room

The Silen Focus Room isn’t an off-the-shelf item in our standard online catalog. It’s our specialized solution when a project demands scale, rapid setup, and specific technical flexibility.

It’s a fully autonomous room-within-a-room delivering large, quiet, highly functional zones without building permits, contractors, or downtime.

Technical specs & capabilities

  • Standard dimensions: 5.4 × 4.0 × 2.5 m (W × D × H). All other dimensions can be customized to your specific requirements.

  • Plug-and-play installation. Runs off a single standard outlet (220–230 V). No HVAC integration, electrical rewiring, or building permit approvals required.

  • Class A sound reduction. Certified Class A soundproofing (R'w 40 dB) with double-glazed glass up to 52 dB. Blocks heavy noise in warehouses, manufacturing floors, and busy offices.

  • Autonomous airflow & optional AC. Features integrated ceiling ventilation independent of central HVAC. Optional built-in climate control provides active summer cooling and winter heating.

  • Echo-free interior acoustics. Premium acoustic lining designed for crisp video calls, private meetings, and focused work.

  • Fully relocatable asset. Assembled on-site in one or a few days, depending on the configuration. Disassembles and moves with you when your lease ends or your layout changes.

  • Fully customizable finishes & layouts

    • Interior & exterior: Swappable finishes to refresh the design anytime — choose from painted surfaces, wood veneer, or acoustic fabric.

    • Layout flexibility: Customizable door locations and quantity; available with glass walls, solid walls, or open-concept designs.

    • Integrated Electrical: Fully customizable electrical placement.

    • Climate control: Seamlessly integrated heating and cooling system with no exterior unit required.

Speed when it matters

From initial planning to installation, deploying a Focus Room is a matter of weeks, not quarters. The actual setup takes a couple of days and happens without dust, noise, or disrupting ongoing operations.

Our core products will always be the fastest, most efficient way to bring quiet to an office. But having the architectural capability behind us means that when a project requires a bigger, more adaptive response, the solution is already built.

If your space has unique requirements that standard pod configurations can't quite address, let’s talk about what’s possible.

FAQ

  1. Which Silen pod models are in your standard lineup?
Our standard lineup features three distinct product families: Silen Chatbox, Silen Space Classic, and Silen Space Gen 2. Each range offers various size configurations to fit different workplace requirements, from single-person privacy booths up to our largest standard pod, the Space Max, which comfortably hosts up to 8 people.

  2. Do I need a building permit to install a modular meeting room?
No. Unlike traditional drywall construction, modular spaces like the Silen Focus Room and other office pods are classified as movable furniture. Because they are autonomous and simply plug into a standard 220–230 V outlet, they require no permanent architectural changes, landlord approvals, or municipal building permits.

  3. How does ventilation work in acoustic office pods?
High-quality acoustic pods feature fully autonomous airflow systems that operate independently of your building’s central HVAC. Integrated, whisper-quiet ceiling fans constantly cycle fresh air in and push stale air out. For larger setups like the Focus Room, built-in active climate control can also be added for heating and cooling without an external AC unit.

  4. Can acoustic rooms effectively handle heavy industrial or manufacturing noise?
Yes, provided they carry certified sound reduction ratings. While standard pods easily manage open-office chatter, heavy-duty setups feature certified Class A sound reduction (R'w 40 dB) paired with double-glazed glass up to 52 dB. This level of two-way sound reduction creates quiet, echo-free work zones right in high-noise environments like active warehouses, manufacturing floors, or airplane hangars.

  5. Why choose a room-within-a-room over traditional drywall construction?
Agility and long-term asset value. Traditional construction creates fixed layouts while causing weeks of dust, noise, and operational downtime. A room-within-a-room is a fully relocatable asset. It installs in a fraction of the time and can be disassembled, moved, or reconfigured whenever your team expands or your lease ends.
