Independent laboratory tests confirm outstanding acoustic performance across the Silen Space Gen 2 line, with speech level reduction results ranging from 32.1 to 33.4 dB.

At Silen, speech privacy has always been at the heart of what we do. Our latest acoustic test results take this commitment even further. The new Silen Space Gen 2 collection has achieved outstanding results in independent laboratory testing conducted in Turku, Finland, according to the international ISO 23351-1 standard.

With measured speech level reduction ranging from 32.1 to 33.4 dB, all tested Space Gen 2 models achieved Class A performance, with Space Call reaching the exceptional Class A+ category.

What ISO 23351-1 Measures, and Why

ISO 23351-1 is the international standard developed specifically for office pods and booths. It measures how effectively a pod reduces the sound of speech traveling into the surrounding workspace. The measurement is based on the frequency range of human speech, so it reflects what really matters in an open office: whether people nearby can hear and understand the conversation inside.

That’s why the standard measures from the inside out. A pod’s main job is to keep your calls, meetings, and confidential discussions where they belong. The higher the dB value, the better the privacy.

The acoustic classification system based on ISO 23351-1 test results provides a clear way to compare speech privacy performance:

Class

Speech level reduction

What it means

A+

33 dB and above

Exceptional speech privacy

A

30–33 dB

Excellent speech privacy; speech generally unintelligible outside

B

25–30 dB

Good speech privacy

C

20–25 dB

Moderate; relies more on background office noise

Engineered for Speech Privacy

Space Gen 2 is optimized around exactly that inside-out logic, with structure, materials, and assembly designed to keep speech contained. Whether it’s a confidential business discussion, a sensitive HR conversation, an important client call, or simply a distraction-free meeting, speech privacy is essential in today’s workplace.

Of course, Space Gen 2 also effectively reduces outside office noise, cutting down on distractions and helping users focus. That said, completely isolating people from their surroundings isn’t necessarily the goal.
